Union Institute & University’s major in Social Work prepares you for generalist practice with individuals, groups, communities, and organizations. Proudly accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), our degree program applies a real-world approach and on-the-job training experience through a combination of online & fieldwork. You will form close mentoring relationships with our experienced social work faculty and practitioners and gain an in-depth understanding of the clinical processes, generalist methods, and interventions used in public and private sector, community-based organizations.

Union’s Social Work program helps you build connections with licensed, experienced social work faculty and field practitioners. We allow our students to attain training experience through completion of social work field practicum near your home so you can apply leadership skills for professional generalist social work practice and advocacy. We also provide professional advising from licensed social work program faculty who guide, mentor, coach, and counsel students from the beginning of their online degree program through graduation.

Licensure Disclosure
Social Work Licensure: To qualify for licensure, students must pass the Association of Social Worker Boards (ASWB) bachelor’s social work licensing examination. Students must apply to their respective State Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for pre-approval to sit for the bachelor examination.
